Meet the Governors

Gita Aminpour (Community Governor, Safeguarding, RS & PSHE)

I have been a Governor at the Trumpington Community College since November 2021, most of that time serving as the Safeguarding Governor.

Since 2019, I have worked on a part-time, assignment basis for the University of Cambridge in various departments and offices. I presently work as Operations Coordinator in the Department of Politics and International Studies dealing with HR, events and other things.

In the wider community, I have served on the Trumpington Residents’ Association since 2019, and as its Company Secretary since 2020.

I serve on the Patient Participation Group Committee for the Trumpington Street Medical Practice. I was appointed Secretary recently.

In addition, I was recently appointed to serve on the Patient Advisory Group for the new Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital.

Another role that I was just appointed to is to serve as a Governor for one of the Federations, consisting of two primary schools.

My family and I live in Trumpington, Cambridge.

Yomi Bazuaye (Parent Governor)

Yomi Bazuaye studied Media studies and Information Technology at Middlesex University and in the years following graduation, has held tech leadership positions in the e-commerce (Vista, ManoMano) and fintech (Monzo) sectors.
He also has many years of experience at a non profit organisation that focuses on documenting the history of the African diaspora in Europe (Afropean).

Yomi moved into the Trumpington area in 2024, and has a strong interest in playing an active role in local life,  and using his experience to support and influence the education that young people receive at Trumpington Community College.

Benjamin Millar (Governor - Staff)

I have been a Teach of Science and Religious Studies at Trumpington Community College since September 2023.

Alongside my role as a teacher, I am a Year 7 form tutor, supporting young minds in their education.

Trumpington Community College's ethos of quality first teaching is one that resonates with my worldview towards education. All young people deserve the best education no matter who they are.

In this role, I aim to support Trumpington Community College deliver their policy and outcomes for students and staff.

Mahi GanGwane (Community Governor - Finance/Create)

Andrew Hewitt (Community Governor)

I am married with two grown-up children, one a Deputy Head in a large London school and one a playwright and tutor.
In June 2020 I received my PhD from the University of Hull on emotion in the work of Thomas Hardy. I have presented at numerous conferences on themes in Hardy, Conrad, and nineteenth-century literature, and my papers and reviews have appeared in The Thomas Hardy Journal, Victorian Popular Fictions Journal, and Modern Language Review.

I am a ‘Community Ambassador’ for the literacy charity Book Aid International, which distributes books and promotes literacy in Africa. From 2010-2019 I was head steward at the Cambridge Literary Festival. I have done voluntary work for Papworth Trust community café, supporting a local initiative that helps people with a disability gain skills and confidence to enter the workplace, and for Oxfam, training shop managers.
I have served on the management committee of my parish church, St Philip’s Cambridge, where I helped create the church’s website, and as a representative to the Diocesan Synod.

As ‘Springfield Books’ I have published three books of poetry by Kevin Halligan. My own short fiction has appeared in Canadian literary magazines. Until 2017 I ran a web site for discussion of the works of award-winning novelist Jim Crace.

As a founding member of a local environmental charity, I worked with Cambridge residents, churches, and the city council to preserve a green space in the heart of the city – Mill Road Cemetery – as a place of spirituality, history, remembrance, and nature. I continue to produce the charity’s newsletter.

Mehmet Kadioglu (Community Governor)

I've called Trumpington home for 30 years, and I'm passionate about giving back to the community that has given me so much. I have witnessed its growth and am committed to playing an active role in its future.

Family and travel are at the heart of my life, and I love exploring new places while staying deeply connected to the people and opportunities here.

Lauren Magilton (Community Governor, Pupil Premium)

My name is Lauren and I am delighted to be supporting Trumpington Community College in its journey over the next few years. I moved to Cambridge in 2012 for my undergraduate degree in English Literature at the University of Cambridge, and very much fell in love with the city. Despite having a tough time during my school years, I have gone on to gain degrees from both the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford, and I very much hope to support and inspire the students of Trumpington Community College in their education journeys. I believe in encouraging students, no matter their background to achieve their full potential. As the link governor for Pupil Premium students, I hope to act as an ambassador and champion for students from disadvantaged backgrounds, encouraging pupils to ‘shoot for the moon’.

Prior to my current role at Cambridge University in their Education Quality and Policy Office, I have worked in fundraising for Newnham College, Murray Edwards College, and the central University and the Programme Management Office for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority.

Annette Matern (Community Governor)

Lindsay Pike

Lindsay joined the Governing Body as a Community Governor in November 2024. Lindsay has been a resident of Trumpington since 2019, and has a long-standing interest in secondary education, particular in the sciences. Lindsay attended a state secondary school, before obtaining a First-class honours degree in Genetics from Cardiff University, and a PhD in Biological Sciences from the University of Cambridge. She is now a qualified UK and European patent attorney, helping inventors from universities, research institutions, and multinational companies protect their intellectual property. In her spare time, Lindsay enjoys gardening, flower arranging, zumba, and walking her golden retriever.

Julian Stanley (LGB Chair, Finance)

Julian is an accomplished CEO with extensive experience across the third sector and commercial enterprises. He is also a qualified leadership and business & life coach. His diverse career spans roles in the civil service, theatre, local government, and leadership positions in national and regional charities, as well as social enterprises in sectors such as health, employment, criminal justice, skills training, youth, and community services. Notably, Julian was the founding CEO of the award-winning charity Education Support, pioneering mental health and well-being services for teaching staff. He later led Bounce Back Foundation (now part of Change, Grow, Live), The Cresset in Peterborough, and Healthwatch.

A passionate community builder and enabler, Julian is also an experienced broadcaster and public speaker, with appearances on national TV, radio, and podcasts like “The Naked Scientists.” He has contributed to publications on teacher well-being and was a regular columnist for ‘Sec-Ed’ for nine years.

Julian studied at university in Manchester, and is a graduate of the University of Cambridge Judge Business School. Based in Cambridge for 22 years, he is married to a psychotherapist, has three adult sons - all state educated with first-class honours degrees from UK universities - and a baby grandson. In his spare time, Julian enjoys yoga, swimming, the arts, and walking his playful Old English Sheepdog.
